Ten Stupid Things
|
|
The Top Ten stupid things Genealogy Websites do. 1. Create Website and list their Email Address and it doesn't work. 2. Add Music in the background. 3. List Half of the Family on their site as Private. (no birth or death information) 4. Use Black as the Background and/or the smallest font they are able to as their Primary font. 5. Navigation of families in list form with numbers to reference who belongs with who. Then repeat using the same numbers. 6. Charge Outrageous Amounts of money to use their resources (Ancestry.com) 7. Use underlines and changed font color that gives you the impression that it is a hyperlinked text that actually isn't 8. Do not have a way to share information or at least view the information that they have collected or list their source. 9. Pop up ads belong on commercial sites not family resource sites. 10. Post pictures whose largest size in 2 inches by 4 inches. I had to add this as I'm really getting ticked over how many people have websites that they "Maintain" and when you email them after fighting their Pop ups and background music. you cannot reach them and there's no way to other than email. Or you cannot make heads or tails of their family information because if all runs together instead of dividing it up into Trees and branches that can be followed visually. Or you just plain can't read the text or it's difficult because the Picture or Font is too small. |
